San Juan Capistrano Bulky Pickup: Four Items Free

San Juan Capistrano bulky item pickup is free for up to four items per visit through CR&R. From the fifth item onward, the city rate schedule applies a per-item charge.

There is a common misunderstanding about this program, and it is worth clearing up first.

Four Items Per Visit, Not Four Visits a Year

The city rate schedule lists four items free for each bulky collection, with a charge beginning at the fifth item.

That is a per-visit allowance. It is not four pickups a year, and plenty of sources get this wrong. The annual number of collections is not published by the city at all, so confirm it with CR&R when you book rather than assuming a figure.

We would rather say we do not know than print a number we cannot support.

What That Means in Practice

Because the free portion is capped per visit rather than per year, the sensible approach is to split items across bookings rather than stack them.

Five items in one visit means paying for the fifth. Four items now and one later may cost nothing. Therefore, a little patience genuinely saves money here.

Where to Take a Mattress

The city points residents toward free county mattress recycling as an alternative to the bulky program.

Mattress-only loads are accepted free at the Olinda Alpha and Prima Deshecha landfills, and OC Waste and Recycling publishes the details. Consequently, a mattress does not need to consume one of your four free items.

Booking and Exclusions

Call CR&R at 877-728-0446 to arrange a collection, and list what is going out.

Household hazardous waste is not part of the program. Paint, solvents, pesticides and motor oil go to a county collection facility instead. Construction and demolition debris is outside the program as well.

Historic Homes and Horse Property

San Juan Capistrano has a character unlike anywhere else in the county, from the Mission and the Los Rios Historic District to the rural lots and equestrian properties spread across the hills.

Both extremes complicate removal. Historic homes bring narrow doorways, tight staircases and rooms that were never designed around a sectional. Meanwhile, rural properties bring long driveways, detached barns and outbuildings sitting well back from any curb.

The program collects at the street. So the distance is usually the obstacle, not the four-item allowance.

What We Remove in San Juan Capistrano

Our San Juan Capistrano crews cover furniture removal, appliance removal, garage cleanouts, home cleanouts, hot tub removal, mattress removal and hoarder cleanouts. Same-day and next-day appointments run seven days a week.

When Four Items Will Not Do

Cleanouts. A barn, a garage, an estate or a move-out is dozens of items, and paying per item past four adds up fast.

Distance and weight. A long driveway, a hillside or an outbuilding is exactly what a curbside program does not solve.

Deadlines. Escrow closings do not wait for a booking window.

That is our work. Our crews cover junk removal in San Juan Capistrano seven days a week, usually same day or next day, and we bring the truck to the item.

Use your four free items per visit, and the free mattress recycling. Call us before the per-item charges start.
