Piano Removal Cost in Orange County

Pianos are beautiful, but they’re also some of the heaviest things in a home. When nobody plays an old piano anymore, getting it out safely is a real job. Therefore, it helps to know the piano removal cost before you call. Here’s how pricing works in Orange County.

How Much Does Piano Removal Cost?

At Doctor Junk Removal, piano removal starts at $175. That starting price covers a standard upright piano on the ground floor with a clear path out. It includes the crew, loading, hauling and disposal. We also confirm your exact price on site before we lift anything.

What Affects Piano Removal Cost

Pianos vary a lot, so a few factors can raise the price:

• Piano type: a spinet or console is lighter than a full upright. Meanwhile, baby grand and grand pianos need more people and more care.
• Stairs: every step adds effort and risk, especially with a heavy upright.
• Tight spaces: narrow doorways, sharp turns and long walks to the street take extra time.
• Floor protection: hardwood floors and finished entryways need careful handling.
• Other items: a piano bench, organ or other furniture can go on the same trip.

Can an Old Piano Be Donated?

Sometimes. A piano in good playing condition may find a new home through a school, church or community group. However, many older pianos need expensive repairs, and few groups accept them. If you want to donate, contact the organization first and confirm they’ll take it.

Why Not Move a Piano Yourself?

An upright piano can weigh several hundred pounds, and the weight sits high and off-center. As a result, it can tip on stairs, crush fingers or gouge floors. For most homeowners, paying the piano removal cost is far safer than a DIY attempt.
