Lake Forest Bulky Item Pickup: Ten Items, Three Times

Lake Forest bulky item pickup gives houses three free collections a year with up to ten items each. Apartments, unusually, get a far better deal than that.

That second point is worth leading with, because renters in most Orange County cities get nothing.

What Houses Get

Three pickups a year, ten items per pickup, through the city CR&R contract. Thirty items annually.

Ten items is a workable number. A full bedroom, a patio set or a garage shelf unit and its contents can go in a single visit rather than being rationed across the year.

Apartments Do Better Here

Multifamily properties in Lake Forest are allowed up to ten pickups a year per enclosure, plus an annual drop-off day.

Ten collections against three is a striking difference. Admittedly, the enclosure is shared, so the allowance covers a whole building rather than your unit alone. Still, compare that with Garden Grove, Placentia or Yorba Linda, where the free program excludes apartments entirely.

If you rent here, ask the property manager how the building books its pickups. The allowance exists whether or not anyone is using it.

What Is Not Collected

Construction and demolition debris falls outside the program, so remodel material, drywall, tile and lumber need another route.

Household hazardous waste does too. Paint, solvents, pesticides and motor oil go to a county facility, and OC Waste and Recycling lists the locations.

Foothill Ranch, Portola Hills and the Hills

Lake Forest annexed Foothill Ranch and Portola Hills in 2000, and those neighborhoods change the practical picture.

Hillside lots often mean stairs from the street to the front door, sloped driveways and homes where the main living space sits above the garage. Consequently, getting a sectional or a treadmill down to a curb can be the hardest part of the job.

The program collects at the curb only. Therefore the ten-item allowance assumes you have already solved the carrying.

How to Book

Call CR&R to schedule and list your items when you do, since crews work from the ticket.

After that, set everything out the night before rather than days ahead, and keep it clear of your carts.

What We Remove in Lake Forest

Our Lake Forest crews cover furniture removal, appliance removal, garage cleanouts, home cleanouts, hot tub removal, mattress removal and hoarder cleanouts. Same-day and next-day appointments run seven days a week.

When the Free Program Runs Out

Three situations, the same ones everywhere.

Cleanouts. A garage, an estate or a hoarding job is dozens of items in a day, not ten across four months.

Weight and stairs. Hot tubs, pianos, water heaters and upstairs furniture are not two-person carries, especially on a hillside lot.

Deadlines. Scheduled collections rarely line up with escrow or a tenant turnover.

We handle all of it. Our crews cover junk removal in Lake Forest seven days a week, usually same day or next day, and we do the carrying.

Use your three pickups, or ten if you rent. Call us for what they cannot reach.
