• You’re keeping some things. It’s easy to mix up a keep pile and a toss pile without you there.
• The job is large or complicated. Estate and garage cleanouts often involve decisions on the spot.
• Your community has rules. Gated neighborhoods and HOAs may require you to approve vendors.

How to Prepare If You Can’t Be Home for Junk Removal

First, separate everything that goes and label it clearly with tape or signs. Next, move the items somewhere easy to reach, like the garage or driveway. Then share gate codes, parking notes and a phone number where you can be reached. Finally, secure pets and lock anything that should stay.

Send Someone in Your Place

Can’t make it? A neighbor, family member, realtor or property manager can meet the crew. Just make sure they know exactly what’s leaving, so nothing important disappears by mistake.

What to Expect on Pickup Day
